A little story

According to Croatian folklore, when women sent their sons and husbands off to war and wanted them to remember them, they would give them their scarves. The soldiers, as a reminder of their love and loyalty, would keep them around their necks.

Although this story enchants our imagination, we must not forget that these soldiers going to war were going to battlefields where violence and confusion raged.

It is therefore very likely that these coloured knots were first and foremost a means of recognising their membership of a particular army.

Today, we no longer use knots or ties so much as a means of recognition in battle but as an accessory that marks our belonging to this or that group in society. Colour still serves as a distinctive code.

A business leader will use a softly toned or discreetly patterned tie to communicate authority, while groomsmen at a wedding will want to make a statement and wear bright colours. The language of colour is an exciting topic in fashion, so we'll talk about it again soon!

Two types of knots.

Ready-made knots.

These are the ones that are already tied and can be adjusted in the neck with an adjuster.

They can have more shapes than the knots to be tied and are generally the cheapest. This is because extra details can be sewn in and a standard size can be achieved, which is easier to produce in large quantities. They can also be any shape as they do not depend on the knot to take shape.

To be tied knots

These classic knots are to be tied yourself. The length of the knot depends on the person.

They are be made to measure or with standard sizes like shirt sizes. As the knot is tied in the front, the neck size cannot be changed. Therefore, these knots are more expensive and less common.

And much more

There are many examples of knots, larger or smaller, made of silk, wood, leather and much more with various shapes whose only limit is the imagination.

I would like to stress here that the elegance of a collar can be extremely simple and that a rectangle of nice fabric, well finished, can be enough to dress up a collar.
